About
Dr. Parul Puri is a Research Fellow (MLTCs) at The George Institute for Global Health India, New Delhi. She completed her Ph.D. in Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai (2018–2023).
Her primary focus is on unraveling the various dimensions of multimorbidity, with a commitment to identifying recurrent and replicable multimorbidity patterns and examining the outcomes associated with them. She also has a strong interest in co-designing and developing complex interventions to tackle multimorbidity.
During her PhD, she focused on identifying temporal patterns and predictors of multimorbidity. Her research explored combinations and clusters of non-communicable disease multimorbidity among older adults in India, using disease networks to highlight influential conditions that may act as precursors to multimorbidity. She also investigated healthcare utilization and the economic implications associated with multimorbidity, aiming to generate empirical evidence and propose community-appropriate policy recommendations for older adults in the Indian subcontinent.
In addition to her work on multimorbidity, she has examined subnational and socio-economic inequalities in maternal and child healthcare and nutrition in India.
